SSSIO Delivers Oxygen Concentrators for Covid Relief in India

Dear Friends,

Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO) continues to serve humanity in various disasters, including the recent catastrophic and rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus in India. Hospitals and clinics have been completely overwhelmed, and hundreds of thousands of COVID-related deaths have resulted, mainly from a severe shortage of oxygen supply. In an urgent targeted response to this crisis, SSSIO has been supplying oxygen concentrators to India for the needy.

We are grateful to the SSSIO members in 107 countries for their loving support and participation in this relief effort.

In the first shipment, SSSIO delivered 308 5-liter oxygen concentrators to needy families through hospitals and makeshift COVID facilities. A triaging system is in place to locate specific hospitals in low-income communities and identify patients who are in greatest clinical and economic need. A key strategy is allowing eligible patients to pick up the oxygen concentrators for home use.

SSSIO supplied 25 concentrators to the 50-bed COVID care hospital that was set up by Sri Sathya Sai Gramin Jagriti in Chandigarh, where each bed is equipped with oxygen supply.

Next, SSSIO directly shipped 70 oxygen concentrators from two manufacturers in China. Concentrators were delivered by air cargo and distributed to various hospitals in India. Majority of the recipients were rural medical centers in Kerala, and government medical institutes in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. SSSIO also sent concentrators to a COVID center in Puttaparthi, Child Protection center in Chennai and Sri Sai Arogya Nilayam in Madurai.

SSSIO volunteers continue to deliver oxygen and other medical supplies to the needy all across India. SSSIO is grateful to Sri Sathya Sai Baba for His constant guidance and inspiration and to the suppliers, manufacturers, and numerous volunteers who have prioritized service to the needy in these difficult times. In addition to helping people directly, Sri Sathya Sai Baba has told us sincere prayer is one of the most effective ways to assuage the grief and suffering of victims of such natural disasters. Let us continue our prayers for COVID-19 victims in India and around the world.

With best regards,
