THE MAYOR OF HARROW ATTENDS SSSIO UK’S CELEBRATION OF THE 97TH BIRTHDAY OF
SRI SATHYA SAI BABA

For the first time in 53 years, on November 19, 2022, 175 members of the SSSIO UK, and their families and friends gathered at the Harrow Council Chambers in London to celebrate Swami’s Birthday. The celebration not only coincided with Ladies’ Day but also with Interfaith Week in England. Accordingly, local faith leaders were invited to join the cultural program.

The Lord’s Prayer sanctified the chamber as the program was inaugurated. It was soon followed by heartfelt and moving English songs and Sarva Dharma bhajans that reverberated in the chamber, filling it with the sweet sound of devotion to the one and only Lord.

The Worshipful Mayor, Cllr Janet Mote, dressed in full mayoral regalia, was welcomed by the SSSIO UK’s National Council President. This was followed by a screening of the video “Divine Mission”, with breathtaking insights into the Sai Mission.

In her address, the Mayor spoke movingly of the work and life of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, including the three vows Swami penned in His historic letter of 1947. She ended her talk with a salutary reminder of Bhagawan’s simple, powerful, and universally known teaching, Love All; Serve All.

After an offering of bhajans by SSE students and Young Adults, a devotee who is a community champion spoke on “Multi-faith and Swami.” After her, a Sai devotee who is also a councilor from Harrow Council spoke about the work of the SSSIO.

The celebration ended with the Mayor cutting the birthday cake and a vote of thanks.
