Educare – Eliciting Human Values from Within

Sri Sathya Sai Baba fostered a unique approach to education called Educare, which draws out the qualities of Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love, and Nonviolence (known as the five universal human values) that are latent within the individual. Educare aligns an individual's heart, head, and hands, leading to good character.

Educare, which is true education, integrates spiritual and secular education. Hence it is inclusive of, and yet beyond, the confines of religion or nationality.

The Education Committee of the SSSIO promotes and supports a culture of human values based on the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This is done through 28 Institutes of Sathya Sai Education, 39 Sathya Sai Schools, and thousands of programs in Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) worldwide. Through this dynamic and interactive network, many inspiring projects have been initiated over decades to contribute to a better world with people of upright, moral character.

The newsletter Education Today provides access to existing educational materials available worldwide. It offers guidance to teachers and parents by disseminating information about SSEHV. It also enhances communication among the Education Committee, Institutes of Sathya Sai Education, and Sathya Sai Schools. The free newsletter can be downloaded here.

The Essence of World Peace is a comprehensive resource for classroom teachers and those engaged in community programs to integrate the value of peace, and the other four human values that are inseparable. The book introduces simple but effective methods to nurture peace within us, our homes, schools, workplaces, communities, and, from there, the world. It includes practical activities that can stand alone or be integrated into the school curricula or community initiatives. The free book can be downloaded here.
