An Educational Lighthouse in Buenos Aires

In 2000, Sri Sathya Sai Baba blessed the establishment of an Institute of Education in Human Values to start new Sathya Sai schools and to administer existing ones in Argentina. Swami personally guided a senior devotee through multiple hurdles to secure a vacant school building. The renovations began in November 2000.

A Miraculous Start

As authorization from the Department of Education was mandatory for the school to operate, another devotee sought an appointment with officials at the ministry in La Plata. But it was given five months later, which meant the school could not begin for another year! The devotee remained in the government offices and prayed, “Swami, I will wait for You for thirty minutes to help since You indicated the school should start as soon as possible.” After 15 minutes, a lady approached him and asked, “Are you looking for me?” She was the Director of Education for Buenos Aires, and she authorized the school on the spot, signing all necessary documents!

As the Argentine government had still not approved the Institute, a letter explaining the problem was presented to Swami on January 15, 2001. Swami patted the devotee on the head, blessing him with reassurance. That same day, the official approval for the Institute was received, despite January being a month of judicial leave for officials in the entire country!

Thus, the Mahatma Gandhi Sathya Sai School was miraculously inaugurated in March 2001 by Swami’s will!

Educare with Love

The Educare Program is at the heart of the school’s curriculum. It promotes self-knowledge and expansion of one’s consciousness by recognizing the values inherent in all human beings. The school is guided by Swami’s teaching, ‘The End of Education is Character.’ Educare promotes character through the practice of Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love, and Nonviolence.

Every year, the school implements different projects to help students gain core skills and competencies. In 2009, the school was recognized with distinction as a social organization serving the community. The Educare Program has been recognized for its educational and cultural contributions in Mendoza, San Luis, Salta, and Buenos Aires.

In 2019, the Ministry of Education again recognized the school for achieving the highest test scores.

The school presently caters to all three levels—initial, primary, and secondary—with a strength of 352 students and 80 staff, including teachers. It has a strong alumni network of successful professionals who maintain contact with the school and assist its further growth. Swami’s divine hand is perceivable in all these grand achievements and momentous growth.
