SSSIO Benin – Transforming the lives of young people

Dear Friends,

The Sri Sathya Sai Centre at D’Abomey (Centre) and the Sri Sathya Sai School of Abomey (School) have been striving hard to transform young lives in this under-privileged country.

The Centre nurtures the love of God in about 65 local children and their parents through devotional songs, spiritual teaching, participating in holy festivals, and service to the needy.

About 187 boys and girls aged between 3 and 12 attend the School for 7 years of education.

In the School, children not only learn the national curriculum, but they are also taught Sathya Sai Education in Human Values by a dedicated team of teachers. Additionally, they join local service activities to practice the human values by sharing and giving to the underprivileged.

Since July 2019, the Sathya Sai Football Academy Abomey has trained 84 talented and committed children of ages 5–18 in three age groups in a rigorous training programme to develop their football skills and utilise the human values as the basis of their actions – both personal and as a team. The middle team has done well in several local tournaments and the senior team has joined an amateur league.

So successful has this project been that in 2020 the Sri Sathya Sai Benin Sports Association was established and is now accredited by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation in Benin.

In July 2021, Sri Sathya Sai Organisation (SSSIO) Benin sponsored a programme for the promotion of the human values of Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Non-violence at the International Festival of Theatre and Story Telling in Abomey, which was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Arts.

With best regards,
