SEEDS OF LOVE AND SERVICE BLOSSOM ACROSS THE USA

“These people have come from so far, yet they are near our hearts. They have come to fill the need impacting our community, and we thank you.”

Pastor Oral, Liberty Church, Florida – Speaking about SSSIO Volunteers

As in other countries, the SSSIO USA is transforming the hearts and minds of people, neighborhoods, and communities through simple acts of love and kindness. Here are a few examples.

Every August since 2013, volunteers from the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Columbia, Missouri, fill backpacks with essential school supplies for elementary-grade students from families in need, including refugees, recent immigrants, and children in foster care. Clothing is also provided.

Since March 2021, Sai Spiritual Education teachers, children, and volunteers of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Albany, New York, have made around 350 blankets for needy children and impoverished expectant mothers to ward off the cold weather.

Meanwhile, volunteers of the Southeast Region of SSSIO, USA, were recently acknowledged at a Thanksgiving service at the Liberty Church in Le High Acres, Florida, for their generous donation of relief supplies, toiletries, non-perishables, and toys to help survivors of Hurricane Ian, a Category 4 storm that caused widespread destruction in September 2022.

In July 2022, Sai Young Adults from Chicagoland, Illinois, collaborated with a Non-Government Organization (NGO) to organize an annual fun-filled four-week summer enrichment camp for children from low-income families. In addition, a four-hour program was held once a week for more than 20 children aged 7 to 13, to provide fun and meaningful educational experiences.

The Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) Council of the North-Central Region, which includes the states of Michigan and Iowa, initiated several drives to collect old T-shirts to braid them into dog toys. At an annual Labor Day retreat in September 2022, SSE children cut, weaved, and created 91 dog toys for a local animal shelter.
